ALBA is delighted to announce details of its fourth mooting competition, with the finals to be held on Thursday 12 December 2024 from 5pm to 7:30pm, in Court 1 of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom.
There will be three judges drawn from members of the senior judiciary.
The competition is open to current law students, including LLB, GDL, LPC/SQE and BPTC/BTC/BPC students, and also to those who have completed the BPTC/BTC/BPC but not yet secured pupillage, as at 14 October 2024.
Mooters should enter in teams of two. Those wishing to participate should refer to the detailed instructions to candidates here:

The competition will take the form of a speed moot in which mooters will argue certain points on statutory construction, and the law concerning policies, on appeal from R (Good Law Project) v Prime Minister [2022] EWCA Civ 1580, [2023] 1 WLR 785.
The first stage is judged based on applications for permission to appeal which must be submitted to RachelJones@blackstonechambers.com by 5pm on Friday 8 November 2024.
The prizes are £1000 for the winning team; £500 for the second-placed team. The four members of the winning and second-placed team will also each be entitled to a free place at the ALBA summer conference in 2025.
