SUMMARY:ALBA Mooting Competition 2024
DESCRIPTION:ALBA is delighted to announce details of its fourth mooting com
 petition\, with the finals to be held on Thursday 12 December 2024 from 5p
 m to 7:30pm\, in Court 1 of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom.\nTher
 e will be three judges drawn from members of the senior judiciary.\nThe co
 mpetition is open to current law students\, including LLB\, GDL\, LPC/SQE 
 and BPTC/BTC/BPC students\, and also to those who have completed the BPTC/
 BTC/BPC but not yet secured pupillage\, as at 14 October 2024.\nMooters sh
 ould enter in teams of two. Those wishing to participate should refer to t
 he detailed instructions to candidates here:\nInstructions \nA copy of th
 e case of Urmaza is available here\nThe competition will take the form of 
 a speed moot in which mooters will argue certain points on statutory const
 ruction\, and the law concerning policies\, on appeal from R (Good Law Pr
 oject) v Prime Minister [2022] EWCA Civ 1580\, [2023] 1 WLR 785.\nThe firs
 t stage is judged based on applications for permission to appeal which mus
 t be submitted to RachelJones@blackstonechambers.com by 5pm on Friday 8 No
 vember 2024.\nThe prizes are £1000 for the winning team\; £500 for the s
 econd-placed team. The four members of the winning and second-placed team 
 will also each be entitled to a free place at the ALBA summer conference i
 n 2025.
