This video is a recording of a roundtable discussion on Enhancing the Dialogue Between Public Law Practice and Academia, held on 24 June 2026 at the Honourable Society of Inner Temple, jointly hosted by the Centre for Constitutions in Context (CCC) and the UK Constitutional Law Association (UKCLA).
Participating in the roundtable were four esteemed speakers: Lord Justice Singh (Court of Appeal), Professor Alison Young (Law Commission/University of Cambridge), Dominic Grieve KC (Temple Garden Chambers), and Tom Hickman KC (Blackstone Chambers/UCL). The roundtable was moderated by CCC co-directors Mara Malagodi and David Vitale.
The roundtable highlighted several important aspects of enhancing the dialogue between practitioners and academic researchers, including: understanding how practitioners (judges, barristers, politicians, law commissioners) use academic research in public law; how academic researchers can tailor their research to be of greater use to practitioners; valuable channels through which practitioners can access relevant academic research, including blogposts; formal programmes that foster interaction and direct communication; and using social media
