Sir Jonathan Jones QC (Hon) was Treasury Solicitor and Permanent Secretary of the Government Legal Department from 2014-2020. Before that, in a long career as a government lawyer, he held senior posts in a number of departments including HM Treasury, the Home Office, the Department for Education and the Attorney General’s Office. Earlier this year he joined Linklaters as a Senior Consultant in Public and Constitutional Law. He is also a Bencher of Middle Temple and an Honorary Professor at Durham Law School.
