ALBA and the Bar of Northern Ireland’s Public Law Bar Association (the PLBA) are delighted to announce that we will be holding a hybrid joint event in Belfast on the evening of Wednesday 22 October 2025, to discuss the constitutional and public law implications of decisions of the Northern Ireland courts and of the Supreme Court in cases originating in Northern Ireland.
The event will be introduced by Lord Justice Seamus Treacy of the Northern Ireland Court of Appeal, and the speakers will be Tony McGleenan CBE KC, senior Crown counsel who has acted in most of the significant Northern Ireland public law cases, Cliodhna Kelleher of Monckton Chambers, who specialises in public and UK-EU relations law, and Barrister and Professor of Public Law at Queen’s University Belfast, Gordon Anthony. The event will be chaired by Fiona Doherty KC, chair of the PLBA.
The event will take place in the Inn of Court at the Royal Courts of Justice, Belfast (Chichester Street, BT1 3JF). Tea and coffee will be served from 5:00 pm, the event will start at 5:30 pm, and it will be followed by drinks and nibbles.
