(A hybrid option to join online only for those who cannot attend in person)
ALBA is delighted to host a “roundtable discussion” of the new guidance from the Lady Chief Justice, the Master of the Rolls, the Heads of Division and the Senior President of Tribunals about giving junior counsel in general, and female junior counsel in particular, better opportunities to advance oral argument in court.
The roundtable will be chaired by Joanne Clement KC (11KBW), and we are delighted to be joined by:
- Mr Justice Chamberlain
- Charles Brasted, Partner at Hogan Lovells LLP
- Susanna McGibbon, Treasury Solicitor and Permanent Secretary Government Legal Department
- Nusrat Uddin, Partner at Wilson Solicitors LLP
- Tom de la Mare KC, Blackstone Chambers
- Sonali Naik KC, Garden Court Chambers
- Gayatri Sarathy, Blackstone Chambers
The roundtable is intended to focus on how the guidance can operate in judicial review claims where hearings are generally short and there is not usually any witness handling. We aim to identify the type of cases where juniors should be expected to share the advocacy, how to address any practical issues that might arise, and how to ensure that a client’s bests interests remain paramount.
Contributions to the discussion from attendees (both in-person and online) are encouraged.
The roundtable will be followed by drinks from 7.45pm
Please sign up for this event below. Please note that this event is for ALBA members only and registration will close at 6pm on Monday 11 March 2024.
If you are unable to attend in person, it may be possible to join online. Please email: administrator@adminlaw.org.uk if you would like an online link (please do not use the form below).
