David Cole on “Defending Liberty”

Members Invitation, 5 February 2018, 6.30pm, Hogan Lovells International LLP, London

The Human Rights Lawyers Association (“HRLA”) and the Constitutional and Administrative Law Bar Association (“ALBA”) would be delighted if you could join us on 5 February 2018 for an exciting joint event.

David Cole, Litigation Director, American Civil Liberties Union (“ACLU”) will join us in London from the United States to deliver “Defending Liberty in the Age of Donald Trump’: Lessons from the Front Line(Hogan Lovells International LLP, 6pm, for 6.30pm).   Martha Spurrier, Director, Liberty has kindly agreed to provide a reply and lead a discussion with the audience.  The evening will end with a reception, kindly hosted by Hogan Lovells.

Under David’s direction, ACLU is pursuing strategic legal challenges against the worst excesses of the current administration in the US.  The discussion will provide a fascinating insight into the role of the US Supreme Court in the American constitutional settlement and may highlight lessons to be learned for judges, practitioners and politicians alike.

The event is open now for booking by our members only.  We expect the event will be popular.  Please click here now to reserve your place.

If you have a friend who would like to come, encourage them to join HRLA or ALBA today!

We hope you will be able to join us!
