The Attorney General is seeking to appoint new members to three civil panels of junior counsel, the London A, B and C panels, to undertake civil work for government departments.

Membership of the London panels is open to both barristers and solicitors with the appropriate qualifications.

Applications must be submitted by noon on Thursday 4 April 2024. Details of how to apply can be found here

The Attorney General’s civil panels provide a valuable source of talented advocates who advise and represent the government in many different types of civil litigation. Panel members are the Government’s public face when the Government goes to court. These advocates must embody the highest standards of public service. Appointment is based on merit.

They also offer a mentoring scheme to potential candidates. This scheme involves pairing a potential candidate with a current serving Panel member. Mentoring is intended to demystify the application process for those who may come from Chambers that have not historically had members on the panel. Please email PanelCounsel@governmentlegal.gov.uk if you would like to have a mentor for the process.
