The JAC have been asked to identify one candidate to recommend for the post of Senior Circuit Judge, Designated Civil Judge (East London).

The Senior Circuit Judge, Designated Civil Judge carries out significant leadership and management duties. The role of the Designated Civil Judge is to take overall responsibility for the civil work of the county courts and District Registries in the area to which they are appointed. That involves providing leadership to the civil judiciary (including Circuit Judges, District Judges and fee paid judiciary) who sit at the courts in that area and ensuring the efficient discharge of judicial business at those courts.

 Number of vacancies: 1

Location: East London – A Senior Circuit Judge must live within reasonable traveling distance of the courts at which they will sit.

Salary/Fee: £170,304.00 

Requirements

If you are a solicitor or barrister with seven years legal experience since becoming qualified and can provide three years of service before retiring, then they would love to hear from you. 

Additional selection criteria 

For this post, candidates are expected to have previous judicial experience, sitting as a judge or a coroner in a salaried or fee-paid capacity or a similar role such as the chair of an equivalent body for which a legal qualification is required.
