This year’s annual lecture is titled “Adjudicating Religion”:

Courts in democracies all over the world are increasingly being asked to determine claims based on the right of freedom of religion and the right to be free from discrimination on the grounds of religion and belief.  In her lecture, Professor Kate O’Regan will consider why these claims are being made more frequently, and analyse the jurisprudential difficulties that arise in adjudicating such claims.  She will illustrate her argument with recent decisions of courts in a range of jurisdictions including the United Kingdom, the Europe Court of Human Rights, South Africa, Canada and the United States.

The annual lecture is free. There is no advance registration for this event. The annual lecture is preceded by our AGM at 5.15pm and there will be a drinks reception directly after the lecture.
