This series (held via Zoom) is intended to be an introductory course, and is ideally suited to pupils, junior public law practitioners, or experienced barristers interested in learning about the procedure and practice of judicial review. It also serves as an update for any procedural developments in the past year.
Each webinar will be chaired by Katherine Barnes (39 Essex Chambers) and led by experienced and knowledgeable public practitioners as set out below.
- Tuesday 18 October 2022– Preparing a claim for issue – Joanne Clement KC (11 KBW) and Rachel Sullivan (39 Essex Chambers)
- Wednesday 2 November 2022 – The permission decision – Jessica Boyd KC (Blackstone Chambers) and Daniel Cashman (Blackstone Chambers)
- Wednesday 7 December 2022 – The substantive hearing – Steve Broach (39 Essex Chambers) and Alice Irving (Doughty Street Chambers)
These sessions are free but are for ALBA Members and Pupils/Trainees only. You will be required to request a place to attend. If you are a pupil/trainee and not a member of ALBA, please indicate this clearly in the comments section. Each confirmed booking will cover all three sessions. The Zoom link for each session will be sent out the evening prior to the respective webinar.
Please note that booking will close on Monday 17 October 2022 at 6pm to allow time to organize the Zoom links, so please request your place (whichever sessions you plan to attend) before then.
Please also note that the course has been restructured this year. Attendees will need to download the reading list (approximately 1 to 1.5 hours per session) in advance. This can be found here (please make sure you are logged in before you try to download): https://adminlaw.org.uk/publications/lecture-papers/Attendees will not gain maximum benefit from the course unless they allow time to do this preparatory work.
