ALBA is pleased to host a hybrid seminar on recent developments in human rights law and litigation.
The seminar will hear leading practitioners in the field give their practical reflections on where we are with specific aspects of the Human Rights Act 1998 and the European Convention on Human Rights, now that the 25 and 75 year anniversaries of the Act and the Convention are behind us. It is aimed at practitioners who need to grapple with human rights issues as part of their practice from time to time, or more often.
The seminar will be chaired by Sir Tim Eicke KCMG KC, former judge at the European Court of Human Rights.
The speakers will be:
- David Blundell KC (Landmark)
- Miranda Butler (Landmark)
- Laurene Veale (Cloisters)
The seminar will cover development such as the Chișinău declaration, case law on Article 4 (prohibition of slavery and forced labour), and Articles 10 and 11 (freedom of expression, and assembly and association) and their interplay with protected belief discrimination.
The seminar is on Wednesday 21 October 2026, with registration at 5pm, for a 5:30pm start. The event will be followed by drinks from around 6:45pm.
The event will be held at Landmark Chambers, 180 Fleet Street, London, EC4A 2HG.
It will be possible to attend the event either in-person or online.
The event is free and available to ALBA members only.
