Inner Temple, Lecture Theatre AGM, Annual Lecture & Drinks Reception
This year’s ALBA annual general meeting and annual lecture will be held in the Inner Temple lecture theatre on Thursday 12 November 2026.
ALBA is delighted that Dame Susanna McGibbon DCB KC (Hon) has agreed to deliver the annual lecture. Susanna was Treasury Solicitor, Head of the Government Legal Profession, and Permanent Secretary of the Government Legal Department, between March 2021 and March 2026. She is Keeper of the Black Book and Dean of the Chapel at Lincoln’s Inn, having been called to the Bar in 1990. She joined the Government Legal Profession in 1993, after three years in private practice at the Bar. Susanna joined the Council of JUSTICE in July 2026.
Susanna McGibbon will reflect on her time as a Government lawyer and how the impact of public law on governmental policy and decision-making, and its prominence, has changed over the three decades of her career in the Government Legal Profession. She will consider the role and duties of government lawyers and counsel, how Ministers and senior officials relate to lawyers, and the reality of making the most difficult decisions in government.
The AGM will commence at 6pm, to be followed by the annual lecture at 6:30pm. The annual lecture will be followed by a drinks reception, to which all members are warmly invited.
Please note this is for ALBA Members Only. Please reserve your place below. Booking will close at 6pm on Wednesday, 11 November 2026.
There will be a hybrid option to join online, only for those who cannot attend in person. If you require hybrid access, please do not use the booking form, but instead email: administrator@adminlaw.org.uk to request hybrid access.
