SUMMARY:Making lawful decisions
DESCRIPTION:ALBA is pleased to host an online seminar exploring how public 
 authorities can get it right when making difficult decisions.\n\nThe webin
 ar will provide practical guidance to getting decisions right first time.
   It will cover the key requirements of lawful decision-making\, the main
  legal frameworks governing decision-making\, and common controversial leg
 al issues.\n\nThe webinar will be of interest to all barristers working in
  public law\, whether they advise on\, defend or challenge public authorit
 y decisions.  It will also be of interest to lawyers working in public au
 thorities and lawyers advising and representing those who have to deal wit
 h public authorities.  It will be relevant across all areas of public law
  and administration.\n\nThe speakers for the webinar will be:\n\nVictoria 
 Butler-Cole KC of 39 Essex Chambers.  Victoria has extensive experience o
 f administrative and public law with a focus on health and social care\, p
 eople with mental and physical disabilities and autism and other vulnerabl
 e groups such as prisoners.  She sits as a Deputy High Court Judge.\n\nSt
 eve Broach KC of 39 Essex Chambers.  Steve is a public lawyer with partic
 ular expertise in health\, education\, social care\, and disability and ch
 ildren’s rights cases.  He is a discrimination specialist and has acted
  in many of the leading cases on the law of consultation.\n\nCiar McAndrew
  of Monckton Chambers.  Ciar was called in 2016 and has a broad practice 
 in public law – especially housing\, human rights and discrimination –
  and in competition law.\n\nVictoria and Steve are the editors of\, and Ci
 ar is a contributor to\, the 2024 Legal Action Group book ‘Making Lawful
  Decisions: a guide for decision-makers on acting within the law’.\n\nTh
 e webinar will be chaired by ALBA Chair\, Richard Honey KC.\n\nThis sessio
 n will take place via Zoom and is available to ALBA members only.  Bookin
