SUMMARY:LCLCBA/ALBA seminar: “Diversity Without Disharmony”
DESCRIPTION:Studies indicate that equality and diversity training frequentl
 y fails to achieve its aims within\norganisations\, and that some forms of
  this training can even be counterproductive.\n\nMight this be because the
  methods and doctrines upon which training is based often alienate its\nre
 cipients? Is there a different way? Is there a way to advance the aims of 
 the diversity agenda whilst avoiding\ndivision and bringing everyone on bo
 ard?\n\nDr. Funke Abimbola will examine this issue in a special seminar fo
 r the LCLCBA and ALBA\,\n“Diversity Without Disharmony” and is particu
 larly well-placed to speak on this issue.\n\nShe is a multi-award-winning 
 C-suite healthcare business executive with over 20 years’ professional\n
 experience. Her first career is in law - she practised as a corporate soli
 citor within both Central\nLondon and regional firms for 12 years before w
 orking as a business leader within the global\npharmaceutical industry for
  the next decade. Alongside these roles\, she is a recognised diversity an
 d\ninclusion leader\, speaker and campaigner\, work which she has been rec
 ognised through a range of\nawards including a ‘Point of Light’ award 
 from the Prime Minister (2016)\, an MBE (2017 Queen’s\nBirthday honours 
 list) and an honorary doctorate from the University of Hertfordshire (2019
 ).\n\nA regular commentator for both BBC TV and radio\, Dr. Abimbola found
 ed The Austen Bronte\nConsultancy in September 2020. The consultancy’s m
 ain goal is to improve leadership by leveraging\nthe impact of diversity\,
  inclusion\, belonging and equity across the business world. She works wit
 h\nclients both within the legal profession and across a wide range of ind
 ustries globally including\npharmaceuticals\, financial services and educa
 tion.\n\nShe is the proud mother of an 18-year-old son.\n\nThe seminar wil
