SUMMARY:Developments in human rights law and litigation
DESCRIPTION:ALBA is pleased to host a hybrid seminar on recent developments
  in human rights law and litigation.\n\nThe seminar will hear leading prac
 titioners in the field give their practical reflections on where we are wi
 th specific aspects of the Human Rights Act 1998 and the European Conventi
 on on Human Rights\, now that the 25 and 75 year anniversaries of the Act 
 and the Convention are behind us.  It is aimed at practitioners who need 
 to grapple with human rights issues as part of their practice from time to
  time\, or more often.\n\nThe seminar will be chaired by Sir Tim Eicke KCM
 G KC\, former judge at the European Court of Human Rights.\n\nThe speakers
  will be:\n\n 	David Blundell KC (Landmark)\n 	Miranda Butler (Landmark)\n
  	Laurene Veale (Cloisters)\n\nThe seminar will cover development such as 
 the Chișinău declaration\, case law on Article 4 (prohibition of slavery
  and forced labour)\, and Articles 10 and 11 (freedom of expression\, and 
 assembly and association) and their interplay with protected belief discri
 mination.\n\nThe seminar is on Wednesday 21 October 2026\, with registrati
 on at 5pm\, for a 5:30pm start.  The event will be followed by drinks fro
 m around 6:45pm.\n\nThe event will be held at Landmark Chambers\, 180 Flee
 t Street\, London\, EC4A 2HG.\n\nIt will be possible to attend the event e
 ither in-person or online.\n\nThe event is free and available to ALBA memb
