SUMMARY:ALBA Mooting Competition 2023
DESCRIPTION:ALBA is delighted to announce details of its third mooting comp
 etition\, with the finals to be held on Tuesday 12 December 2023\, from 5p
 m to 7:30pm\, in Court 1 of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom.\n\nTh
 e 2023 moot will be judged by Lord Justice Green\, Mrs Justice Lieven and 
 Christopher Vajda KC (former UK judge at the CJEU).\n\nThe competition is 
 open to current law students\, including LLB\, GDL\, LPC/SQE and BPTC/BTC/
 BPC students\, and also to those who have completed the BPTC/BTC/BPC but n
 ot yet secured pupillage\, as at 12 October 2023.\n\nMooters should enter 
 in teams of two. Those wishing to participate should refer to the detailed
  instructions to candidates:\n\nInstructions to Candidates\n\nThe competit
 ion will take the form of a speed moot in which mooters will argue certain
  points on the law of consultation on appeal from R (Eveleigh) v Secretary
  of State for Work and Pensions [2023] EWCA Civ 810.\n\nThe first stage is
  judged based on applications for permission to appeal which must be submi
 tted by 5pm on Monday 6 November 2023.\n\nThe prizes are £1000 for the wi
 nning team\; £500 for the second-placed team. The four members of the win
 ning and second-placed team will also each be entitled to a free place at 
 the ALBA summer conference 2024 in Cambridge.
